British showjumper Ellen Whitaker is part of one of showjumping's most revered families, and has many achievements under her belt. In addition to her sporting achievements, she has won many awards such as the British Showjumping Association Rider of the Year and Members' Personality of the Year in 2005. She is the daughter of former show jumper Stephen Whitaker and his wife Carol, and niece of riders John and Michael Whitaker. Her brothers Joe, Thomas and Donald, as well as her cousins Robert, William, Louise, Joanne, George, James and Jack are also show jumpers. She represented Great Britain in the European Championships and helped Britain to qualify for the Olympics after jumping triple clear.
Ellen quotes two memorable sporting achievements - jumping three out of three clears at the 2007 European Championships in Mannheim, which qualified Team GB for the Beijing Olympics in 2008, as well as winning team bronze with her uncles John and Michael on the same team. Her second highlight is jumping a clear round in the Hickstead Derby to finish second to her uncle John when she was 18. Her sporting heros are Swiss tennis player Roger Federer, British jumpers John Whitaker and Michael Whitaker (her uncles).
