  • Michel Hecart
  • Competing for: France
  • From: Villeneuve-Saint-Georges
  • Age: 63

Michael began riding at 16 and got into the sport after going on a chance beach ride with his parents. He broke his third cervical vertebra, fractured both hands and broke his nose in a fall at the 2012 CSIO event in Palm Beach, FL, United States. His injuries required several months of recovery and rehabilitation.

His daughter Marie Hecart is a professional showjumper, based in the United States. His business Hecart Horses is run from the large Haras de la Roque stables and stud farm near Deauville, France. The farm is home to around 70 working horses and around 200 horses in total, as well as 25 staff members and professional riders. "I don't compete as much because I am very busy at home with the horses, I do miss it at times but if I can still take part in a competition every now and then with one or two good horses, I will be happy."
