Explosion W is one of the most successful horses in the world today at only 10 years old.  The hugely talented chestnut gelding was born in April 2009 out of out of the famous stallion Chacco-Blue and his Dam Sire Baloubet du Rouet.

Explosion W is owned by Poden Farms and was the pivotal horse of Ben Maher who went on to win the Longines Global Champions Tour Championship in 2018. This year Explosion W was again one of the key horses of Ben Maher during the LGCT championship race and the GCL team series culminating in the British rider taking both titles. He is the youngest horses to play such a vital role in championship victories on the LGCT and GCL circuits. No other horse has helped play such a big part in winning the championship at such a young age - the legendary Casall and Hello Sanctos were both 11 years old, while Itot Du Chateau was 15 years, when he claimed top spot throughout the season.

Thought their career together in 2018 and 2019 Ben Maher and Explosion have won 6 LGCT Grand Prix together since they started their partnership in early 2018. The hugely talented gelding set another record this season by landing on the LGCT and GCL podium a total of 10 times.

Explosion W is naturally fast, careful, consistent and instinctively adapts to different arenas. From the galloping grass arenas in Cascais and Madrid vs small, tight sand arenas in London - which are all places he has won.

Talking about his top horse Explosion W, Ben Maher said "He’s a real character and just an incredible horse that’s so intelligent. A horse like this only comes around maybe once in a lifetime. I’m so thankful to the Poden Farms to be able to ride such an incredible horse”
