Germany’s Daniel Deusser has taken over the World Number 1 spot as the Longines Rankings move into the New Year. The popular rider has jumped up from third in the overall rankings, ahead of compatriot Christian Ahlmann (GER) and Kent Farrington (USA) who both shuffle down two places to second and third respectively.
Last season saw Daniel take part in ten of the fifteen Longines Global Champions Tour events, with the highlights being a Silver Medal in the LGCT Grand Prix of Chantilly and LGCT Grand Prix of Doha with his 12 year old chestnut gelding First Class van Eeckelghem. Daniel also took the Bronze Medal under the night lights at LGCT Cannes with his 13 year old mare, Equita van't Zorgvliet, and has had further CSI5* wins at Miami Beach, Valkenswaard and Doha this season, totalling his LGCT prize purse at €333,316 for 2016.
Scott Brash (GBR) also moves back into the World Top Ten, currently sitting at World Number 9. Simon Delestre (FRA) moves to World Number 5, Kevin Staut (FRA) to World Number 6 and Pénélope LePrevost (FRA) to World Number 10, as three of France’s top riders continue their dominance in the rankings. Germany’s Marcus Ehning remains at World Number 7, Eric Lamaze (CAN) drops to World Number 7 and America’s McLain Ward moves up to World Number 4.
Congratulations Daniel and his team at Stephex Stables.
