Last year saw the Longines Global Champions Tour circuit make a further strategic expansion across the American continent with the addition of a spectacular new event in Mexico City. A hugely popular venue, the event welcomed thousands of new fans to the massive grass arena of Campo Marte in 2016 and 2017, with spectators packing the venue to witness the stars of show jumping in action and cheer on their heroes in the heart of the city.
This year Mexico City will once again have the honour of opening the 2018 season by hosting round 1 of the competition, kicking off on the 22nd - 25th March. Campo Marte is an equestrian venue located in the Avenue Paseo de la Reforma, next to the National Auditorium in Chapultepec Park, in Mexico City, which previously hosted Olympic Games dressage and individual jumping events.
Previous winners come from opposite ends of the show jumping spectrum, with French legend and Olympic medallist Roger-Yves Bost (FRA) wowing the crowds in emphatic style to win the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Mexico City in 2016, and young Swiss superstar Martin Fuchs (SUI)
One thing is for sure, the new season will be electric, but who will throw down the gauntlet this season to start the 2018 Championship campaign and kick off the 13th year of the Longines Global Champions Tour season in style?
