Season 2014

  • 18-21 September 2014

From the 18-21th September, Vienna, the 'City of Music', will once again host the LONGINES GLOBAL CHAMPIONS TOUR for the third year in a row. The Austrian capital is a city famous for its imperial culture, architecture, musical history and beautiful palaces - in 2001, the centre of the Vienna was declared a World Heritage Site.

Another jewel in the crown of glittering venues which make up the Tour, Vienna is home to many high profile organisations, including the United Nations and Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. This centre of European music has been voted one the most world's most liveable cities and consistently ranks highly as a world centre of cultural innovation. Vienna certainly proved a lucky charm for last year's Grand Prix winner Gerco Schröder and London.

Everywhere you turn, the distinctive elegance of the place grabs you and invites you in. The city of Vienna has over 27 castles and more than 150 palaces, including Empress Sisi's baroque former summer residence, Schönbrunn Palace. Away from the excitement of the horse show, there are museums, exhibitions, architecture, amusement parks and the famous giant ferris wheel, Riesenrad.

Longines Global Champions Tour Vienna is a popular show with families and equestrian sports fans alike. Once the top-class show jumping is over, you can also enjoy opera and live classical music. Or, if you prefer, wait until nightfall when the seemingly sleepy cafes transform to become vibrant party venues to celebrate the victories of the day as we head towards the final leg of the Tour and the end of the season...
