Charlotte Casiraghi promises a special Monaco event

Release date: 01/01/1970

The final countdown to the Global Champions Tour of Monaco is underway and the show’s Honorary President Charlotte Casiraghi promises a truly special event for 2012 and a few surprises.

HSBC Private Bank and luxury Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre are leading a raft of sponsors of the GCT Monte-Carlo, which is one of the jewels in the crown of the GCT series each year. The best riders in the world, including Kevin Staut, Christian Ahlmann, Alvaro de Miranda, Pius Schwizer, Edwina Tops-Alexander, Michael Whitaker and Laura Kraut will all be in action this year. They will be competing for the richest prize money in show jumping at the Grand Prix on Saturday evening. Over 10,000 spectators, VIPs and sponsors will pack into the elegant hospitality loges and grandstands for an action-packed three-days of top-level equestrian sport.

GCT President Jan Tops first brought his prestigious circuit to Monaco in 2006, when he founded the Tour, and his collaboration with Charlotte Casiraghi has created a spectacular event alongside the most famous yacht harbour in the world. Charlotte said: “What is so good is that we have progressed a lot in developing the event and that process continues all the time. I’m delighted that we have major sponsors like HSBC Private Bank and Jaeger-LeCoultre showing their dedication to our sport of show jumping."

“We have worked really hard every year to add new facilities, to raise the standard of the show and make it more special. That has been a success because people and businesses want to be associated with the event.”

Jan Tops said: “Once again we will have the best riders and horses in the world in Monaco and I am sure it will be a fantastic event for our sponsors, spectators, guests and TV viewers worldwide.”

Last year HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and Charlotte's mother Princess Caroline of Hanover attended the GCT show and watched top Swedish rider Rolf-Göran Bengtsson the Grand Prix.

Charlotte and current GCT ranking leader Edwina Tops-Alexander will team up for the exciting Jaeger-LeCoultre Pro-Am Cup where professional and amateur riders take part in a fast and furious competition in the Port d’Hercule arena. Charlotte said this year’s Pro-Am promises to be even more thrilling for spectators and team sponsors with “a few surprises”.
