Biography

Bernardo Alves started to ride in 1981, when he was 7 years old. At fifteen years of age Bernardo became a professional rider and trained for some time with Nelson Pessoa, he was European Champion in Berlin. The Brazilian was a Team Gold Medallist at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg and Rio de Janeiro. He was also Team Bronze Medal at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo.

In Aachen at the World Championship 2006, Bernardo was 12th. Bernardo rode his most famous horse Chupa Chup at the 2008 Olympic Games where he placed 35th individually and was a member of the Brazilian Team who placed 10th.

He began his Global Champions Tour competitions in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2007 here he placed 16th with Chupa Chup before continuing the 2007 season in Valeknswaard (NED) placing 12th and 7th in Arezzo, Italy.

The 2008 Global Champions Tour saw many very strong placings at hamburg, Cannes, Monte Carlo, Estoril and Valkenswaard with Chupa Chup.

In 2009 he won the Global Champions Tour of Germany and was third in the GCT Grand Prix of Italy in Arezzo. In 2010 Bernardo won the GCT of Monaco, and was 8th in Cannes and his home turf of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil on Bridgit, the horse he thinks might be the best he has ever ridden.
