Biography

Mikael 'Mikko' Forstén was born in 1969 and is a professional rider from Helsinki, Finland. Mikael runs a stable in South of Netherlands together with his wife Noora.

Mikael has made his living from horses and competing in showjumping since 1987. Mikael has studied in the Helsinki Technical University before his active sports career. Mikael has also been an active sportsman on national junior championship level in football and alpine skiing. An accident and following injuries in 1987 changed his main activity to riding.

His career highlights to date in riding include being a 5-time Finnish Championship (young riders and seniors), over 600 international placings on his career, with alone over 100 during season 2005.Mikael has participated in the European Championships in years 1997 (with his stallion Invitation) and 2004 (with the mare Charleen) and in the World Championships in 2006 (with gelding Skybreaker). Mikael has also jumped in numerous World Cup qualifiers with placings. In 2009 he represented his county at the European Championships.

Mikael's is also an active racing driver and spends a lot of time behind the wheel. Mikael's hobbies include golf and snowboarding. Mikael and Noora are also big consumers of movies in the spare time.
