Biography
One of the present day great German show jumping riders Marcus Ehning needs no introduction. Winner of the 2010 Global Champions Tour Marcus took home a cheque for 300,000 to add to his year of prizemoney collection in the global series.
An extremely awarded pony jumping jockey, Marcus won 2 times team gold at the European Championships in 1990/91 on his pony Starlight. As a 16-year old, Marcus finally rode large horses. Orchidee, Opium and Talan were the most important horses in the beginning. These 3 horses ensured four times team gold in the five-year old junior and Young rider time at the European Championships.
Riding For Pleasure Marcus was part of the Gold medal team at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. The jumping horses of Ehning are Sandro Boy, Gitania, For Germany, and Nolte’s Küchengirl, which was ridden for the higher level by his brother Johannes.
Besides the top horses, Marcus also takes care of a new generation horses. About 10 horses are worked by him on daily basis. After being placed several times in GCT Grand Prix's in 2009, Marcus finished the year as World number one, and then began 2010 by wining his third World Cup Final on Plot Blue. This makes Marcus the only rider to have won this prestigous competition three times on three different horses.
Always an inclusion at the Gloabl Champions Tour events each year Marcus has begin the 2011 season in Doha with Noltes Kuchengirl and in Valencia with Sabrina 327, 7th Place.
