Biography
Born on 26 August 1963 in Detmold/Westphalia, one of four children, he was 15 years old, he was offered his first competition horse. His Junior years of riding saw Ludger represented his country for the first time with the European Championships for Young Riders in 1984. From there Ludger beacme a stable rider for threefold European Champion Paul Schockemöhle in Mühlen (GER). Ludger soon formed the ‘dreamteam’ of the German jumping world with Franke Sloothaak. Since 1987, Ludger has practically won all of the big championships.
In 1988, Ludger left Schockemöhle to go to the bayer Buchloe where he became the rider for Stable Moksel with Ralf Schneider and Elmar Gundel. During his time in Buchloe, Ludger Beerbaum won individual gold at the Olympic Games in Barcelona with Classic Touch.After the Olympics, according to the contract, the mare went to Ralf Schneider. Ludgers employer bought the infamous mare Ratina Z. Since then, Ludger and Ratina Z won the team golden medal in Atlanta in 1996, became double European champion with Ratina Z in Mannheim in 1997, won the team golden medal at the World Championships in Rome with Priamos.
At the Olympics in Sydney, he became Olympic winner for the fourth time when he won the team golden medal with Goldfever. In 1993 he was winner of the World Cup Final and in 2010 he = finished runner up in the World Cup Final in Geneva riding Goldfever's daughter Gotha.
Ludger competed at the Global Champions Tour in Valkenswaard, The Netherlands in 2006 placing 3rd. Other Global Champions Tour successes include 3rd in Sao Paulo in 2008, 5th at Chantilly in 2011 and 2nd place in Valencia, Spain in 2011.
