Biography

It was almost inevitable that Luciana would love horses and riding. Her family is inspired by horses in various ways. Her mother, Lica, stands in the Guiness Book of World Records for a record 8 consecutive wins in the Brazilian National Dressage Championships. Originally Luciana was following in her mother's footsteps and used to ride her mother's top dressage horse Marko. This "family horse" was ridden by Lica in the mornings and Luciana in the afternoons. And on weekends Luciana's grandfather would ride him. This sweet horse had a strong impact on the then 11 yr. old Luciana. When he passed away she was so heartbroken that she didn't want to ride anymore. Luckily, after approximately a month, Luciana decided to start riding again. But she wouldn't ride dressage anymore and therefore found her way to jumping

At the age of 12 she was the Children's Jumping Champion in Brazil and at the ages of 14 and 18 she was Junior Jumping Champion. The beginning of an exciting career.

Luciana's brothers, André and Fabio, have inherited their father Arnaldo's love of polo. The brothers are the top two Brazilian polo players with an 8 and 9 handicap respectively.

What was meant to be a one year trip to Europe to train with the great Brazilian rider Nelson Pessoa turned into an extended stay. After the stay at Pessoa's stable in Belgium she went to ride by the legendary Alwin Schockemoehle for 5 years. After this educational experience she decided to start her own business and bought the facility in Fürstenau. She was runner up in the GCT of Portugal 2009 and placed fourth in the World Cup Final in Geneva in 2010.

Luciana rode in her first GCT Grand Prix in Estoril, Portugal in 2006 on Dover, was 6th in GCT Estoril and 5th at Sao Paula in 2007 riding Son of Marco. The 2008 season saw success on the Global Champions Tour with the mare Suzie Quattro placing 7th in Doha, and 9th in Cannes. As Taro started her 2009 GCT march of successes placing 3rd in Estoril and 10th in Rio.  Luciana was always in the top GCT 25 placings of each event in 2010.

She began an the 2011 GCT series with a fourth place in Doha on the new Grand Prix horse Lennox.
