GLOBAL CHAMPIONS TOUR NEW VENUES 2012

From the soaring skyscrapers of Shanghai to the heart of sophisticated Vienna. From Lausanne on the shores of Lake Geneva to Europe’s oldest spa town of Wiesbaden.
The 2012 Global Champions Tour has four spectacular new destinations in its most extensive calendar so far.
Next year’s circuit will feature a record total of 13 events across Europe, the Middle East and Far East, where top-level show jumping will be played out in truly mouth-watering locations. GCT will once again start and finish in the Arabian Gulf where enthusiasm for the sport is growing fast. Beginning in Doha, Qatar the Tour will take in Monte-Carlo, Cannes, Valencia, Valkenswaard, Chantilly, Estoril, Hamburg with the climax in Abu Dhabi.
And the four new venues promise to attract even greater numbers of fans and sponsors to the Tour.
Vienna, famously home to some of the world’s greatest composers, will host GCT for the first time in 2012 in September where crowds will be thrilled by show jumping in the magnificent City Hall square (Rathausplatz) from 20 to 23 September.
The GCT will arrive in the glorious lakeside location of Lausanne in Switzerland on September 14 where the top-ranked riders and horses will entertain and thrill spectators surrounded by Lake Geneva and the Alps.
Early in October GCT will debut in Shanghai, a towering city of shiny new skyscrapers and high style. Shanghai, with a population of 19 million, is even rivalling New York for looks but its gravity-defying buildings are even more modern. And the arena and facilities for the GCT show jumping extravaganza will be reach new heights for the sport.
The fourth new event takes place in May in Wiesbaden, the historic spa town on the northern bank of the Rhine, and with its long tradition of horse shows, it promises a heady mixture of passionate spectators, great hospitality and a wonderful setting in the Schlosspark (Palace Park) arena.
