Message from Win van der Leegte (Director General VDL Groep)

From the 12th till the 14th of August 2011 Valkenswaard will be once again transformed into the center of the international horse sport.

For the 18th time the event will be organized on the premises of Stal Tops. This edition of International Concours Valkenswaard promises again to be a great event with many highlights. This year too, the International Concours Valkenswaard is part of the Global Champions Tour.

This edition is the 8th leg of the Global Champions Tour before the series ends in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Therefore many international top riders will be present. New talent also has a chance during the Horse Festival Valkenswaard, which takes place the weekend before (August 5. 6.7.th ) and simultaneously.

Besides being President of the event I am also involved as main sponsor and competitor at this event. The VDL Groep has now, for the 9th time, given its name to the main class which will be ridden on August 13th: the VDL Groep Grand Prix.

This is still the most lucrative Grand Prix in The Netherlands. With Stoeterij Duyselshof, the stables linked to VDL Groep, we will also participate in the various competitions. As a competitor I hope that our VDL-stable riders Leopold and Mathijs van Asten, Eric and Maikel van der Vleuten will have a very successful tournament.

Ever since the start in 1994 International Concours Valkenswaard has grown into an event with international standing of which we can all be very proud. The organizers and volunteers make sure the event flows smoothly every year. Therefore I express my compliments.

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish the participants, the sponsors and of course the audience a particularly beautiful and sportive competition!
