World No1 female rider Edwina Alexander (above) has achieved another milestone in her international career as the first Global Champions Tour rider to win €1 million in prize money.
The Australian sped into second place in yesterday’s 1.45m Prix Federation Equestre Principaute de Monaco adding €4,000 to her total winnings since the first GCT in Wellington, USA, in 2006.
Her latest success put her over the one million mark and after her critical second place riding Cevo Socrates Edwina said: “I was so happy to reach the million mark with my horse Socrates. He has been such a big part of winning the total amount over the years. I thought I hadn’t gone fast enough and that others would be quicker in the class leaving me lower down in the placings.”
And she added: “In fact, I am happy I don’t have to aim for this in the rest of the events over the weekend!
“Monaco is such a great show and it has been a big part of the Global Champions Tour since the beginning, so I’m really proud that I have reached the million euro mark here.”
French riders Kevin Staut and French rider Phillip Rozier took first and third place respectively in the one round Table A class against the clock and Edwina’s fellow Stal Tops rider Daniel Deusser (GER) came fourth with Cabreado S.E
