Billy Twomey ready for the GCT Grand Prix of Hamburg

Release date: 03/06/2011 |

Winner of the Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Spain is set for the GCT Grand Prix of Hamburg.

I have brought Je T'aime Flamenco, Romanov and Wild Thing to Hamburg.

Since Je T'aime Flamenco's win in the brilliant Global Champions Tour Grand Prix in Valencia, he has jumped in La Baule, were he was very unlucky not to win the Grand Prix.

He ended up 7th with a fence down in the jump off in the fastest time. I was early to go, which did not leave me with very many options and some of the best riders in the world to come behind me.

Since Romanov was second in the Grand Prix at Leipzig, he has also jumped at La Baule, he jumped on the Nations Cup Team for Ireland which we won, a great start to our Nations Cup campaign.

Last week Je Taime and Romanov had an easy week at home in light work, being turned out in the paddocks. They are really fit and on fine form at the moment, so our main priority is to ensure they are enjoying life.

Wild Thing is a nice young horse who I have brought for the young horse classes, these give the young horses a great experience and build them up for what is to come later in their careers.

Hamburg is a great show with a lot of tradition and history. The show has invested heavily in their surface and it’s nice to be jumping on a great grass surface. They have a nice mix of modern and traditional fences, which makes for interesting competition.

I have a great family of owners and sponsors, a lot of whom will be represented at Hamburg, Amerigo, Animo, Hickstead, Equiform, Easibed, Horsware, Samshield and Veradus.

From my family of owners, I think my long-term supporters Sue and Ed Davies, the owners of Je T'aime will be here to watch.

The attendance in Hamburg is always really good, the crowd are knowledgeable about the sport and always get behind the riders, creating a great atmosphere.

The show is really well organized and I am excited and privileged to be competing here.
