Prix Domaine de Chantilly – Special Two Phases

Thirteen combinations of the forty-four starters faced the second phase in the Prix Domain de Chantilly 1.45m with the French riders showing the field how to tackle a course in the wet conditions.

The special two phase class allowed all riders to compete in the second phase even when on faults in the first phase.

The morning had looked semi-favourable in terms of the weather clearing up.  However, the skies opened again as the class began and the first riders had difficulty with vision due to the heavy rain.

The French dominated the class with Patrice Delaveau, (Ornella Mail),Simon Delestre  Whisper) and Michel Robert(Kaloe Des Perries) placing 1,2,3 respectively.

The French, in fact, took 5 of the top 7 final positions with Jerome Hurel  (Opheline De Gorgon) and Penelope Leprevost (Oscar Des Fontaines).

"Before class I was confiedent as I have been jumping him since he was a young horse. He is used to jumping in the mud." said Patrice adding.  "It was a big prestigeous class to win although a little lower in height because of the footing.  I played polo this morning and had a pain im my heart but I was lucky to be well enough to compete."
