The second day of competition at the 2011 Global Champions Tour in Cannes, France continued this evening with a victory for French rider Patrice Delaveau and the mare Nayana (pictured above) in the Prix Touessrok/Air Mauritius 1.50m speed challenge.
The VIP marquees were packed to capacity with the 3,500 or more guests enjoying good food and wine whilst taking in the top sport of show jumping, lifting the French rider to success.
Forty entries showed over the course set by co-course designers Serge Houtman (FRA) and Luc Musette (BEL). Patrice and Nayana were able to jump clear with time determining the placings. They made up the time difference with the inside cut from the vertical at fence 10 to a big square oxer at fence 11. Their round in a time of 65.32 seconds took the lead with just a few left to go and held on for the win.
They just edged out Night Train ridden by Denis Lynch (IRL), who had set the first clear round in 67.38 seconds as the tenth combination on course.
