Marcus Ehning-GCT Champion By a Split Second!
Marcus Ehning, already winner of the World Cup earlier this year, today won the biggest single prize in any of the Olympic equestrian disciplines at the very last second of the competition. As the leader of the GCT rankings he received a cheque for 300'000 Euro at the GCT Final in Rio de Janeiro. But as if that was not enough he also won the Grand Prix and the award for the show's best overall rider. In total Marcus has netted over 460'000 Euro this weekend. In the Grand Prix he had to finish in the top three to deny Marco Kutscher the title and he did it by coming top of a seventh horse jump off by a fraction of a second. A second slower and Marco would have been the champion. Denis Lynch was second again after Valkenswaard on All Inclusive, Edwina Alexander took third on Cevo Itot de Chateau and Carlos Ribas was fourth with Ronaldo.
