Welcome to the groundbreaking 2014 season with some of the world's greatest cities joining our expanding calendar of destinations.
I am proud to say we are looking forward to a milestone year in our history with 14 events, including stunning new venues in Paris, Shanghai and Antwerp. The beautiful Horse Guards Parade Ground in the heart of London will be an exceptional stage for this year's 11th leg of our championship circuit.
We continue to pioneer new improvements for the benefit of equestrian sport - whether it is our spectacular destinations, our TV and live streaming coverage and the experience for our fans, sponsors, riders and owners. For this 2014 season we aim to bring the very best of show jumping to an ever wider audience across the world.
I look forward to another successful collaboration with our Title Partner and Official Timekeeper Longines, following a great season in 2013. It is a pleasure to work with Longines to continue to raise standards in our sport, which is all about precision, speed, hard work and excellence. In 2013 in London we witnessed one of the great Grand Prix jump offs the sport has ever seen and throughout the season the calibre of competition was outstanding as we continue to attract the best riders in the world. The final leg of 2013 at the magnificent Al Shaqab in Qatar topped off a tremendous series with our Champion Scott Brash a well-deserved winner.
Internationally, there is no doubt the sport's popularity is increasing. Not only in traditional show jumping heartlands, but in new regions where riders from the continents of Asia, the Middle East and Africa are experiencing success on the international stage. Our pioneering event in Shanghai, China, fittingly in the 'Year of the Horse', will add an exciting new audience online and on TV. Once again Eurosport will broadcast our Grand Prix live and the GCT TV live streaming service will be bringing all the action to our fans worldwide.
We hope more and more people will enjoy the sport we love and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the riders, sponsors, owners, host countries, officials and staff. I hope you enjoy the 2014 season.
