Patroness
The foreword of Athina Onassis de Miranda

It is an honor for me to be the patroness of the Global Champions Tour since the beginning in 2006.
I have seen the GCT grow over the years and I am very proud of the way it has developed. Last year was a particularly good year from an organizational and a sportive perspective. The Global Champions Tour really brought the best of equestrian sport to some of the nicest locations in the world.
For 2010 the GCT has added two new events to the calendar. The first one will be in May in Milan, the Italian capital of fashion where horses are going to jump in the historic setting of an antique Roman arena.
The second event will take place in Chantilly near Paris, where the elite of the equestrian sport will meet at the Chantilly Domain which was brought back to its historic glory with the help of His Highness the Aga Khan. I trust that these events, both in historic places, are just like last year’s new comers Valencia and Rio de Janeiro, who proved to be true assets to the Global Champions Tour.
It won’t be a surprise that I am very much looking forward as well to the last stage in Rio. Last year we had, in spite of the extreme weather conditions, a very good first event. This year I am confident it will be the apotheosis of the 2010 Global Champions Tour season.
I wish the GCT and the event organizer every success in its future endeavors and thank also the riders and sponsors for their continuing support.
