The vision of an Olympic champion

Jan Tops, Founder and President of the Longines Global Champions Tour, is one of the most well-recognised and experienced figures in show jumping. An exceptionally high achiever in his chosen field, Jan won numerous individual and team championship titles and the distinction of an Olympic Team Gold medal in Barcelona in 1992. Shortly after winning Olympic Gold, Jan launched CSI Valkenswaard and turned it into one of the best horse shows on the international equestrian scene. But his vision and goal was to comprehensively raise standards across the whole sport, so in 2006 he launched the Global Champions Tour and transformed the world of international show jumping.

Our Mobile Vet Clinic

The welfare of horses is one of the Tour's top priorities. In 2012, we launched an initiative with the goal of providing top-class care facilities for the horses competing on our circuit. As a result, a unique mobile veterinary clinic is available to all horses participating in the Championship series 24 hours a day for the duration of the event. The fully-equipped clinic truck features state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapy machines. This mobile facility, brainchild of Italian veterinarian Alessandro Centinaio and realised thanks to the support of companies such as Human Tecar, travels to every event on the Tour. "This program enriches the value and the quality of the Tour," says Jan Tops. "We have always taken in great consideration the welfare of the horses competing in our events. The services provided by the mobile clinic are a further step in the right direction."
